VDP Weingut S. A. Prüm

Discover the Moselle

Our winery and country estate are located in the small Moselle town of Wehlen, directly on the banks of the Moselle river, with an impressive view of the world-famous steep slopes of the Wehlener Sonnenuhr, whose vineyard paths invite you to go for a hike.

Explore our landscape by bike; perfectly developed cycle paths and tour suggestions are available to you during your holiday in Wehlen along the Moselle. The Maare-Mosel cycle path takes you from Daun through the Eifel to Bernkastel. The Regio-Radler will of course take you to the starting point after registration, where you can easily complete the route in a day trip.

Numerous hiking trails run through the Moselle valley and lead you into many side valleys. In April 2014, the Moselsteig, which offers highlights for hiking enthusiasts along the Moselle, was opened. From the Moselle High Route you will be able to enjoy a wonderful view of the vineyards. You can plan your own route using the interactive hiking map of the Bernkastel-Kues holiday region. If you prefer something a little more sporty, we recommend the Calmont Climbing Route and the Erdener Treppchen/Prälat climbing trail; experience the steepest slopes of the Moselle for yourself!

The Wehlener Fruit Trail, which takes you through the nature reserve of the orchards, is particularly suitable as a short circular route for a leisurely stroll in picturesque surroundings.

Just a few kilometers from Wehlen, Bernkastel is waiting to be visited. On the old towpath that runs directly along the banks of the Moselle, you can reach the medieval town center in 45 minutes on foot, which is always worth a visit. With its historic market square, the famous Spitzhäuschen and Landshut Castle, Bernkastel is a popular destination in the heart of the Middle Moselle.

For all vintage car fans, the ‘Zylinderhaus‘ museum is located in the Kues district. Spanning over 2,5 floors, dive into the bygone era of motor transport!

If you are drawn to other cities: Trier, with its unique Roman buildings, is an experience especially for those interested in culture and history. Between the Porta Nigra World Heritage Site and the amphitheater, there is of course the opportunity to stroll. Cities such as Bernkastel and Traben-Trarbach convey the special charm of the Moselle villages. If you want to experience French flair, Luxembourg is always worth a visit and is only a stone’s throw away.

Of course, the region also offers variety for family holidays with children: Eifelpark Gondorf, Thermal Springs Traben-Trarbach or the Cascade in Bitburg are just the thing for children.
