VDP.GERMANY’S FINEST WINE ESTATES

200 winemakers from all over Germany have one thing in common: the grape eagle on the bottle cap as a guarantee of unadulterated wine enjoyment. It guarantees the best wines from one of the most renowned wineries in the country. It is this alliance of wine enthusiasts who give their all to extract the best from their excellent locations, stony soils and steep slopes through hard work. Wine as a joy of life, there is no better seal of quality.

The VDP.CLASSIFICATION is based on a private law statute of the German quality wine estates. This statute defines the quality of a wine according to the “territory”, in connection with the quality. For the quality wine estates, the vineyard is therefore the decisive quality feature.
The aim of the VDP.CLASSIFICATION is to determine the value of the best locations in Germany, to ensure the preservation of a unique cultural landscape, to regain the importance of great dry wines from Germany and to emphasize the importance of traditional, fruity, sweet quality wines. The implementation of the new VDP.CLASSIFICATION begins with the 2012 vintage.

We are a member of the VDP out of certainty. Therefore, since 2005 we only produced Grand Vines (or GG as it is labeled) and Premium wines from our own vineyards.

VDP.GROSSE LAGE – Grand Cru
THE TOP OF THE VINEYARDS

Our Grand Crus include:
Wehlener SONNENUHR
Graacher HIMMELREICH
Graacher DOMPROBST
Bernkasteler LAY

VDP.ORTSWEIN – Village Wine
AMBASSADOR OF THE BEST SOILS

VDP.ORTSWEINE come from the best vineyards within a town and are planted with grape varieties typical of the region. The dry VDP.ORTSWEINE is labelled as a “quality dry wine”. Fruity sweet VDP.ORTSWEINE carry the classic predicates.

Our village wines come from GRAACH, WEHLEN and ERDEN.

VDP.GUTSWEIN – Estate Wine
FROM THE GROUND-UP; GOOD

VDP.GUTSWEIN is a good entry into the origin-based quality hierarchy of the Premium wine estates. The wines come from the estate’s own vineyards and meet the strict VDP standards.

We also work with a number of contract winegrowers who grow grapes according to our specifications. These harvests are generally classified as quality wines without any reference to producer or estate bottling and are marketed under the name RAIMUND PRÜM.

This means we keep a strict separation from our estate wines and can offer an excellent price-performance ratio. Our customers all over the world particularly appreciate this. These wines also include the PINOT NOIR grape variety, which is known worldwide for its quality. Otherwise, our full attention is focused on growing the “queen of grape varieties”, Riesling.
